Wait, are you sure? I got the job?

Yes...it is true. I was hired today. I will admit I walked in there with little expectations. A lot of interviewers don't like my answer when I tell them why I left my old job; "I didn't like being in a cubicle all day and I had the opportunity to book and promote rockabilly shows." That wasn't entirely true, I also had the opportunity to stay home with my children more, which is what I wanted to do. In the last 2 and a half years I got to work with amazing bands, worked for Kim Lenz while she was recording and during the release of her last CD
And then the last 10 months managing and doing marketing for Time Zone Vintage. None of these "jobs" I've had since I stopped working full-time really felt like a job. The booking and promoting just felt like doing my part to get bands I wanted to see here in Northern California. Working for Kim was like having the opportunity to hang out with and help my favorite Rockabilly singer, and the vintage store has really just been playing dress up a lot.

My kids are getting older, and there are things I want to do and things I want for my kids, so I need to buckle down and commit myself to helping Frank provide these things for them.

I will still have the busy social life, still be sure to go to Viva and I still got my eye on the prize...going to the Rockabilly Rave next June. I don't know if I will be able to blog nearly as much as I have this first month. I will do what I can this week to catch up on the stuff I've started, like BBH 2009 and 2010, also start on my weight loss blog. I am working at Time Zone tomorrow and Park Place on Wednesday. In fact Linda, the owner of Park Place and I will be hitting the Shaheen exhibit before work on Wednesday. There is a great exhibit on Alfred Shaheen at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles

I'll be writing more tonight!
