I was reminded today, via Facebook, that for 8 months, San Francisco had a regular record hop every Friday night. It was a Rockabilly record hop, jiving encouraged and lindy tolerated (Just kidding all you lindy hoppers out there). It had been many years since there had been a regular weekly rockabilly night anywhere in San Francisco. The record hop was at the Jay N Bee club located on 20th and York, and was the perfect size, unless of course it was Tanoa's birthday, but I digress. They started it up in August, and it stopped at the end of April due to some new neighbors who complained and Jay N Bee didn't have the proper license to have a DJ and dancing.
Here's a photo of Angela from San Diego and I in front of Jay N Bee
I had joined weight watchers about 5 weeks before I started going to J & B's and the regular jiving helped my waist trim down inches smaller than when I was the same weight in 2006. I am a strict advocate of jiving as a form of exercise. There were nights I left Jay & Bee with soaking wet hair from sweat and still panting (the panting was NOT caused by the good looking men who attended!).
Here's some fun pics from Jay N Bees:
Some of our regulars...
