Hey there! It's Lara. I have been loving all your ideas and I hope you keep them coming!
I had something to share with you all too!
I have been taking my kids to the Carlsbad City Library a lot. And for the summertime, they have their Summer Reading Program.
I remember when I was little, my mom took us to the library and we would be so proud of ourselves after every book we finished. We would report on our books, get our picture taken and our names on the wall. I remember it being such a sense of accomplishment for me and I'm so happy to be able to start my kids early on it.
The kids get to pick out any book they want to read and then report on it to one of the high school volunteers at the library!
They give them their very own little reading log and they get a stamp a day after they've reported on their books.
Then they get a prize! What kid wouldn't love that! They get to choose between a toy or a coupon.
So far, the boys have gotten a free pass to Legoland, a free movie ticket at the theatre, a free kids meal at Daphne's Greek Restaurant and a bunch of little knick knack toys. They only need one more book report to get a free library T-shirt. Let me tell you, they are super excited about that.
They absolutely love it! They read tons of books, we explore the area, play on the computers there.
Very educational and they have no idea!
I highly recommend everyone check out their local library and see if they offer a summer reading program. You'll be so glad you did! Not to mention how surprisingly excited your kids will be to be giving their book reports!
So try out the summer reading program...
it's air conditioned, it's free and best of all, you're making beautiful memories for your kids!
